[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, a Metropolitan Police officer threw fireworks and shouted insults as a fan during a football match and was subsequently fired. It is reported that Detective Constable Irikefe was found guilty of “unacceptable” football hooligan behavior during Arsenal matches between October 2022 and April 2023. He was ordered to stay away from any football matches in Britain for three years. Prior to this, DC Irikefe was charged with igniting and throwing fireworks during a home game in Munich in April last year. On the same day, he was arrested by German police for wearing a balaclava and sunglasses inside the stadium and fined €100. Additionally, DC Irikefe is suspected of making lewd gestures, shouting at a substitute player, and intimidating other fans using fireworks. A football banning order was also approved, meaning that Irikefe is banned from attending any regulated football matches in Britain and must surrender his passport when required to attend any away games abroad. Irikefe submitted his resignation on February 12 and was formally dismissed. He will also be added to the prohibited list for the police academy.
