[Saba Sports News] A revealing video of Luka Doncic and Jason Kidd has surfaced this week.
The Los Angeles Lakers defeated the Dallas Mavericks 107-99 on Tuesday in their first matchup since their shocking trade. Doncic was stunningly dealt to the Lakers for Anthony Davis, a move that left many in disbelief.
Since the Feb. 1 trade, the Mavericks have been in full damage-control mode, with reports suggesting they parted ways with Doncic due to long-term health concerns. Whatever the reason, it’s clear the trade has fueled Doncic’s competitive fire.
After the game, a video emerged showing Doncic seemingly staring down Kidd and shouting at the Mavericks head coach after making a basket.
Some have interpreted the moment as a sign that Kidd was aware of the trade before it happened. Others believe Doncic simply feels betrayed and suspects Kidd played a role in the decision.
Regardless of what happened behind the scenes, the Lakers are reaping the benefits. Despite an off-shooting night, Doncic helped lead L.A. to a 111-102 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves on Thursday, finishing with 21 points on 6-of-20 shooting (including just 1-for-9 from three). Since joining the Lakers, he has averaged 19 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists per game.
As for Kidd, he insists he had no prior knowledge of the trade. “I got a call to come up to the room and was told about the trade,” Kidd said when asked when he found out.
“I’m an employee of the Mavs. I’ve said this before and some of you maybe overlooked it: I’m the coach. I coach the players that are here. We made a trade and we’ve got to push forward. That’s what we’re doing.”
Was Kidd truly in the dark? Maybe some details of the trade will never come to light. But one thing is certain—Doncic is playing like a man on a mission.
