[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards nearly delivered one of the season’s best highlights on Sunday—until Bradley Beal’s questionable foul ruined the moment.
With under two minutes left at Footprint Center, Edwards’ Minnesota Timberwolves held a commanding 112-93 lead over the Phoenix Suns. After a steal, Edwards and Donte DiVincenzo broke loose for an easy fast-break opportunity.
DiVincenzo set Edwards up for a potential alley-oop dunk with a perfect bounce pass, but just as Edwards soared for the finish, Beal shoved him in mid-air.
To make matters worse, the officials initially ruled that Edwards had simply lost control of the ball out of bounds, calling no foul on the play. The Timberwolves challenged the ruling, and after review, Beal’s shove was upgraded to a flagrant 1 foul.
Edwards was visibly frustrated by the missed call but kept his composure, avoiding a technical foul—a notable feat considering he already led the NBA in techs this season and was facing automatic suspensions for any additional infractions.
After sinking both free throws, Edwards was subbed out, capping off a dominant 44-point performance as Minnesota secured a 116-98 win. His relentless scoring against the Suns continued, but his highlight-reel dunk was lost to Beal’s late-game antics.
