[Saba Sports News] Carolina Marin, the Rio 2016 Olympic champion, suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the semifinals of women’s singles at the 2024 Paris Olympics. However, she has postponed her retirement plans and has returned to the badminton court for training. Recently, Marin shared her rehabilitation progress and posted a video on Instagram. In the video, Marin is seen training on the court using a balloon and mimicking striking motions without a racket to test her athletic ability. She captioned the video, stating: “I will continue to move forward.” At the Supera Iberdrola Awards ceremony held in Spain this January, Marin mentioned that she would not rush back into competition until she felt safe and completely confident about her knee. She revealed that if her recovery goes smoothly, she might return to compete at the World Badminton Championships in Paris this August. Meanwhile, Marin has also developed a retirement plan, intending to retire after the European Badminton Championships in April 2026.
