[Saba Sports News] The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2024 will be jointly-hosted by Delhi and Bengaluru, as per an ANI report.
The inaugural season of the tournament which took place in 2023 was massive hit. In its inception year, WPL was held all over Mumbai in two stadiums – DY Patil Stadium and Brabourne Stadium – hosting 11 matches each.
The final decision on the venues will be taken in Governing Committee metting scheduled later this week with Delhi and Bengaluru being most likely viable options.
“Women IPL will be held in Delhi and Bangalore this year Board aims to make League bigger and better,” a BCCI source said as quoted to ANI.
The plan is to start the tournament by late February with its scheduled expected to come after the confirmation on the venues arrive in the meeting.
Like the previous edition, five teams, Mumbai Indians, Delhi Capitals, UP Warriorz, Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Giants, will take part in the competition.
The Harmanpreet Kaur-led Mumbai Indians lifted the trophy in 2023 as the franchise defeated Delhi Capitals in the final.
