[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United must obtain permission from the local airport before advancing its £2 billion “New Old Trafford” stadium project, as the giant masts in the design could potentially affect flight paths. Manchester United announced last week plans to build a new stadium with a capacity of 100,000 people, which has drawn attention not only in the sports world but also in the aviation industry. The design includes three giant masts inspired by the trident in Manchester United’s crest. These towering masts will support an umbrella-shaped roof covering the entire “New Old Trafford.” Two of the masts stand at 150 meters tall, while the tallest reaches an impressive 200 meters. However, the area where the Manchester United stadium is located frequently sees flights taking off from Manchester Airport. Aviation enthusiasts want to know how this project will operate if approved. In fact, the area around Old Trafford falls under the jurisdiction of Manchester Airport, and any construction exceeding 90 meters requires prior approval from the airport. Currently, Manchester United has not yet communicated with the airport just 6.4 kilometers away. If the club proceeds with the plan, it will need to engage in dialogue with the airport.
