[Saba Sports News] Nikki Spoelstra, ex-wife of Miami Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra, became the focus of internet rumors last week—and decided not to stay silent about it.
Over the weekend, Nikki addressed speculation circulating on Reddit and social media claiming she was romantically involved with Heat rookie Jaime Jaquez Jr.
The rumor appeared to stem from fans noticing she had frequently liked Jaquez’s social media posts. While such gossip often goes unaddressed, Nikki took to her own social media to shut it down directly.
In a video posted Sunday, she called the claims “100 percent flat-out not true” and expressed frustration at the backlash she received online.
“It’s one thing for you sports fanatics to talk crazy after I made a really big life decision,” she said. “It’s another to come to my page, harass me, and call me names over a rumor that is completely false.”
She added, “People say, ‘Why even respond? Just ignore it.’ But if you’re bringing your dirty feet into my space, I’m going to call it out.”
Nikki also mentioned that she had already spoken to both Jaquez’s girlfriend and his mother, who were allegedly tied into the gossip. The three of them, she said, were collectively “rolling their eyes” at the false story. Some fans had even pointed to Jaquez’s mother following Nikki on social media as “evidence,” fueling more baseless speculation.
The Spoelstras announced their divorce in November 2023, stating the decision was amicable and that they remain committed to co-parenting their three children. Nikki, 38, is a former Miami Heat dancer who began dating Erik, now 54, over a decade ago.
They kept their relationship private in the early stages before going public with their engagement in 2015.
While internet rumors can spread quickly, Nikki Spoelstra made it clear this one won’t go unchallenged.
