[Saba Sports News] Doc Rivers recently addressed one of the biggest blemishes on his NBA coaching résumé.
Widely respected and an NBA champion, Rivers is on pace to surpass Phil Jackson for the seventh-most coaching wins in league history. But despite his accomplishments, he’s also known for a less flattering record: he’s the only coach in NBA history to lose three playoff series after holding a 3-1 lead.
In a recent interview with Andscape’s Marc J. Spears, Rivers said it’s “unfair” that this part of his legacy gets so much attention.
“It is what it is,” Rivers told Spears. “It’s part of my legacy. There’s nothing I can do about it.”
While he can proudly point to his 2007-08 championship run with the Celtics, those blown leads continue to be a major talking point whenever his career is discussed.
