[Saba Sports News] Shaquille O’Neal and Dwight Howard have had one of the NBA’s longest-running feuds—but based on Shaq’s latest comments, that chapter might finally be closed.
Howard was officially selected for induction into the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame this week and took to X to share who he hoped would present him at the ceremony. His surprising list included Kevin Garnett, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar—and Shaq.
Given the rocky history between the two former All-Star centers, Howard’s inclusion of O’Neal raised eyebrows. But when the topic came up on the latest episode of *The Big Podcast*, Shaq’s response caught many off guard.
“I’ll do it. I’ll be there,” O’Neal said. “Of course. That’s my guy.”
While there may have been a hint of sarcasm in his tone, Shaq didn’t double down with any usual jabs. It’s possible he truly meant it—or at the very least, he’s choosing not to stir the pot during a milestone moment in Howard’s career.
That would be a notable shift, given the two have publicly taken shots at each other for nearly two decades over everything from nicknames to resumes. But even Shaq might agree that Howard’s Hall of Fame credentials speak for themselves: eight All-NBA selections, a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, and a 2020 NBA champion.
At least for now, the long-standing beef seems to be on ice.
