[Saba Sports News] Recently, Jos Verstappen forwarded a video of “abnormal changes in McLaren’s rear wing” on social media, causing a sensation. In response, his son, the four-time F1 world champion Max Verstappen, gave an intriguing response at the Bahrain Grand Prix: “I don’t make the rules, but everyone saw the truth.” This video, exposed by a senior F1 technical expert, shows that the rear wing of the McLaren MCL39 car exhibited much greater elastic deformation at high speeds than the Red Bull RB21 car. Although the FIA has confirmed its legality, this technical dispute is turning into a behind-the-scenes battle. Technical insiders pointed out that the McLaren team may have used the properties of composite materials to create a “mechanical DRS” effect, with the rear wing automatically extending to reduce drag at high speeds and restoring downforce when braking. This kind of innovation on the edge of the rules is a classic case of F1 technical game-playing. In response, some fans said that Verstappen’s remarks were both compromising and accusing. Currently, three teams have asked the FIA to re-evaluate the limits of rear wing deformation.
