[Saba Sports News] Anthony Edwards has avoided suspension just in time for the Timberwolves’ crucial regular season finale.
The NBA announced Saturday that it has rescinded the technical foul assessed to Edwards during Friday’s game against the Brooklyn Nets.
Edwards was hit with the tech in the second quarter by referee Ray Acosta after arguing a foul call, reportedly using profanity in the exchange. Crew chief Bill Kennedy confirmed the reason postgame, but after review, the league opted to overturn the decision.
Originally, the call carried major consequences. It would have been Edwards’ 18th technical foul of the season, triggering an automatic one-game suspension — his second such penalty after already sitting out once for reaching the 16-tech limit in February.
Thankfully for Edwards and the Timberwolves, the reversal means he’ll be eligible to play Sunday.
That’s a huge boost for Minnesota, who need a win over the Utah Jazz to avoid the Play-In Tournament.
The Wolves currently sit seventh in the West and still require some help to break into the top six, but they’ll at least have their star guard on the court for their must-win matchup.
