[Saba Sports News] Members of the Cadillac team attended last weekend’s Miami Grand Prix, including veteran Pat Symonds, who once worked in F1 and is now serving as executive engineering advisor for Cadillac. There was speculation that Sergio Perez might sign with Cadillac soon. David Croft, a commentator for Sky Sports, came to the team’s resting area to ask Symonds about the rumors and found Perez himself inside Room 305. With a smile, Symonds insisted it was just a coincidence before leaving. Croft commented that there were roughly eight drivers on his list, including Perez, and it wasn’t surprising to see him there since fans love to see him on the track. Recently, Perez signed a lucrative sponsorship deal with Heineken, making him one of the most sponsored drivers on the circuit, which has increased his appeal. Although Cadillac executives claim they will select drivers based on merit, Perez still holds an advantage over most candidates. At present, only Valtteri Bottas can rival him in terms of experience and success rate.
