[Saba Sports News] With the Golden State Warriors advancing to the second round of the NBA Playoffs—where they’ll take on the Minnesota Timberwolves—it’s worth revisiting their pivotal 103-89 Game 7 victory over the Houston Rockets on Sunday night.
Once again, Stephen Curry delivered in a high-stakes moment, drawing praise from newly acquired teammate Jimmy Butler.
Butler, who contributed 20 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists in the win, spoke glowingly about Curry’s all-around impact.
“I think that’s the true definition of one of the greatest—not just scoring or shooting, but impacting the game in every way,” Butler said. “He’s got three defenders on him every possession, and he’s still making the right plays over and over. And when we needed him to hit big shots, he came through.”
Curry’s leadership and competitive fire continue to inspire not just teammates but also head coach Steve Kerr, who couldn’t hold back his admiration for the 37-year-old star.
“I’m blown away by Steph’s competitive spirit at this point in his career,” Kerr said. “He’s got four rings, a gold medal—nothing left to prove. And yet, he shows up every night like he still has something to prove. It’s amazing.”
Kerr emphasized that it’s that drive—shared by the core of the Warriors—that defines their sustained excellence.
“It’s their competitive force, the love for the game, the willingness to put themselves on the line year after year. That’s what blows me away. It’s beautiful to watch.”
The Warriors now prepare for a high-energy quarterfinal showdown against the Timberwolves, with Game 1 set for Tuesday night.
