[Saba Sports News] The Houston Rockets may not have any true untouchables on their roster — including their rising star center.
Kurt Helin of NBC Sports reported Thursday that the Rockets would be willing to trade Alperen Sengun if it meant landing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo.
The report suggests Sengun could be part of a larger package that also includes forward Jabari Smith Jr. and several future draft picks, both from Houston and other teams.
The Rockets — fresh off a 52-win season and a first-round playoff exit — are reportedly eager to pursue Antetokounmpo this summer. Recent signs suggest that interest may be mutual.
But with Antetokounmpo set to turn 31 later this year, the idea of trading Sengun, a 22-year-old All-Star center, is raising eyebrows. Sengun averaged 19.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, and 4.9 assists this season while playing in a relatively low-usage role.
Some expected guard Jalen Green to be the centerpiece of any blockbuster deal, especially with veteran Fred VanVleet anchoring the backcourt.
However, reports indicate Houston remains unusually high on Green and appears more willing to move Sengun instead.
Ultimately, all of this may prove irrelevant — many around the league remain skeptical that the Bucks will actually entertain trading Antetokounmpo this offseason.
