[Saba Sports News] The Denver Nuggets’ season came to a crashing end on Sunday with a lopsided 125-93 loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals.
And if Nikola Jokic’s postgame comments are any indication, he may be ready to accept that changes are needed.
When asked whether he still believed the current core could win a championship, Jokic offered a blunt and unfiltered response.
“We didn’t, so obviously we can’t,” Jokic said. “If we could, we would win it. I don’t believe in those if stuffs. We had an opportunity. We didn’t win it.”
While Jokic’s answer was literal, it also seemed to reflect a deeper frustration—one that has reportedly been building throughout the season. Dating back to October, Jokic had been vocal about his concerns with the Nuggets’ roster construction.
Despite that, the reigning champions managed to push the series to a Game 7, even while navigating injury issues and reported internal tension. Jokic, as always, was the driving force—finishing Game 7 with 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Though Jokic remains the franchise cornerstone with no signs of seeking an exit, the rest of the roster could be a different story. With offseason decisions looming—and uncertainty around the coaching staff and front office—Denver may be headed for a significant shake-up.
