[Saba Sports News] On May 27th, the Badminton World Federation released an article about applying to host the BWF World Tour events from 2027 to 2030, including details regarding the event structure, rights and obligations of the host countries, commercial frameworks, and regulations that member associations need to follow. From the content, it is evident that the number of World Tour events during this new cycle will undergo adjustments. The numbers of Super1000, 750, and 500 events will remain unchanged, with 4, 6, and 9 events respectively. However, the number of Super300 events will decrease from 11 to 8, while Super100 events will decrease from 10 to 8. Super100 events were previously outside the tournament system but will now be integrated into the tour structure to enhance commercial integration and visibility. Including the year-end finals, the total number of tours each year will be 36. Additionally, changes have been made to the formats. The duration of Super1000 tournaments will be extended from 6 days to 11 days, effectively spanning two weeks, with finals scheduled for Sunday. Both men’s and women’s singles will adopt a group stage format with 48 draws each, while doubles will continue with a knockout format of 32 teams. The number of venues will increase from one to two, allowing for a dual venue setup, resulting in a total of 219 matches. This means fans’ favorite players may not appear at the same venue. The mandatory participation standards for athletes remain unchanged; top 15 singles players and top 10 doubles teams must participate in all Super1000 and Super750 events, as well as at least 2 out of 9 Super500 events.
