[Saba Sports News] Recently, Liverpool and Ajax jointly announced an agreement regarding the transfer of coach John Heitinga, who will no longer serve as Liverpool’s assistant coach and will instead return to Ajax as head coach. Liverpool Club released a statement on their official website saying: “Liverpool confirms that Heitinga will leave the club and become head coach of Ajax. The 41-year-old former player served as assistant coach under Arne Slott before leaving after working with the behind-the-scenes team for a year. He is now the head coach of Ajax in the Eredivisie. We thank and commend him for his role in helping Liverpool win the Premier League title for the 2024-25 season.” It is understood that Heitinga will sign a contract as head coach of Ajax until June 30, 2027. In response, Heitinga said: “I am looking forward to the new chapter. My time in England has been very beneficial, not only because I have grown under Moyes and Slott but also because I have gained a deeper understanding of the operational mechanisms of both clubs. As a head coach, I feel honored to be entrusted by Ajax.”
