[Saba Sports News] Recently, Danish legend Kenneth Jonassen, who was announced as the Malaysian singles coach this year, mentioned the current state of Malaysia’s singles players during an interview with the media. He stated that Malaysia’s top singles players aren’t yet world-class. Taking advantage of the opportunity, he publicly extended an invitation to top overseas singles players to come train in Malaysia. The Malaysian Badminton Association will cover their costs. Jonassen has extensive coaching experience; he spent 11 years coaching the Danish national team, serving as head coach for 8 of those years. He has developed outstanding players such as Olympic gold medalist Viktor Axelsen and led the Danish team to victory in the 2016 Thomas Cup. We believe Jonassen’s involvement can promote exchange and cooperation between Malaysia’s badminton team and the international badminton community, especially with European teams. He can bring different training styles and technical characteristics, helping Malaysian athletes broaden their horizons and better adapt to various opponents’ playing styles in international competitions.
