[Saba Sports News] If Kevin Durant is eyeing a move to the New York Knicks, he may be disappointed by their lack of interest.
According to Stefan Bondy of the New York Post, the Knicks have no plans to pursue a trade for Durant. While the two-time Finals MVP may have some interest in joining New York, the feeling doesn’t appear to be mutual—Bondy reports the Knicks are “not in the mix” for him.
Durant is widely expected to be traded by the Phoenix Suns this offseason, and the team is likely to help him land with a preferred destination. The Knicks had been floated as a logical fit given their deep playoff run and strong roster led by Jalen Brunson. However, their limited stash of future draft picks and current roster constraints could be factors behind their hesitation.
Additionally, uncertainty surrounding the Knicks’ head coaching situation and limited cap flexibility make this an awkward time to chase another superstar. Instead, the team seems focused on continuity and finding the right coach to lead their current core.
Durant is also reportedly more interested in other destinations, leaving the Knicks on the outside looking in for now.
