[Saba Sports News] The New York Knicks have come up empty once again in their head coaching search.
Over the past two weeks, the Knicks have pursued several currently employed coaches, including high-profile names like Dallas’ Jason Kidd and Houston’s Ime Udoka. However, both teams denied New York’s requests to interview their head coaches.
Now, the Knicks’ interest in Chicago Bulls coach Billy Donovan has also hit a dead end. Multiple reports linked Donovan to the vacancy earlier this week, but on Friday, KC Johnson of Chicago Sports Network and Ian Begley of SNY confirmed that Donovan has been fully ruled out as a candidate.
Donovan has coached the Bulls since the 2020–21 season, compiling a 195–205 record with one playoff appearance — a 2022 first-round exit against the Milwaukee Bucks.
With multiple rejections now on the books, the Knicks are reportedly shifting focus to candidates who are not currently under contract. Between the ongoing coaching search and their rumored interest in Kevin Durant, New York is staring down one of the most pivotal offseasons in recent franchise history.
