Veteran Rene Arnoux, who once served the team, bluntly pointed out that Lewis Hamilton’s age has become an obstacle for the team, and Ferrari under Fred Vasseur’s leadership has performed poorly, drifting further away from the championship track. This season, Hamilton, just turned 40 years old, transferred to Ferrari and performed averagely, failing to live up to expectations of reviving Ferrari. In response, Arnoux believed that without a dominant car, this seven-time world champion could no longer maintain top form, despite his hard efforts. His body and age were against him. If Ferrari cannot provide him with a car that offers significant performance advantages, he will struggle to keep pace with Charles Leclerc. Against this backdrop, the Ferrari team hoped to reverse the situation by introducing major upgrades to the rear suspension at the Silverstone circuit. However, Arnoux did not believe in the effectiveness of this technical modification, pointing out that the current competitiveness in F1 is so intense that any minor improvement is unlikely to bring substantial breakthroughs. Perhaps the new suspension will work, but don’t forget that other teams are also progressing.
