[Saba Sports News] According to French media, Tottenham Hotspur has filed a lawsuit against Ineos, the company owned by Jim Ratcliffe, seeking compensation exceeding £11.1 million. In its complaint, Tottenham claims that Ineos violated a five-year contract signed in 2022, which required Tottenham to promote Ineos’ Grenadier as their “official 4×4 partner,” with a minimum value of £17.5 million. The club alleges that the company failed to pay more than £5 million in annual installments by December 1, 2023, and also missed a payment of nearly £500,000 related to inflation on August 16. As a result, Tottenham terminated the contract on March 11 and is seeking at least £5.27 million in damages, as the contract had more than two years remaining. The complaint details the contract terms, including an annual payment of £2.125 million in the first year, increasing to £4.6 million by the fifth year, all including VAT and adjusted for inflation. Tottenham is also requesting interest and other remedies deemed appropriate by the court. Ineos has recently ended partnerships with multiple organizations, including a sailing team and a rugby team. Earlier this year, New Zealand Rugby also sued Ineos for breach of contract, although a settlement was later reached.
