[Saba Sports News] According to Brazilian media, Brazilian forward Gabriel Barbosa Almeida has successfully appealed and had his two-year ban lifted. On April 8, 2023, Gabriel Barbosa was accused of interfering with anti-doping officials during a routine test, showing disrespect and failing to comply with instructions. Although his test result was negative, he was still prosecuted and in March of last year was found guilty of attempted doping fraud and received a two-year suspension. Gabriel Barbosa has been appealing the decision, and the suspension was not enforced until the appeal was resolved. Eventually, he took the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Lausanne, which announced this week that it supported his appeal and overturned the two-year ban. The CAS stated that although the player’s behavior was not fully cooperative, there was no reason to believe he violated anti-doping rules. Gabriel Barbosa said: “Justice has been served, but the wounds remain.”
