[Saba Sports News] Six days after Diogo Jota and his brother died in a car accident, Spanish media reported the latest progress in the investigation by the National Police. At kilometer 63.300 on the A-52 highway, the uncontrolled vehicle veered into the left lane, creating a 50-meter skid mark that became a key clue in determining the accident. Near the median strip, there were burn marks covering 100 square meters, dozens of meters of twisted crash barriers, and numerous fragments of a Lamborghini sports car. The investigation points to “severe speeding” and tire failure as possible causes, according to the traffic unit of the Zamora National Police. The fire greatly hindered the investigation process, and the destruction of key evidence may delay the case from being submitted to court. Most heartbreaking was the identification of the victims’ bodies through personal items. With rings and other personal belongings, it was finally confirmed that the driver of the vehicle was Jota. Another key piece of evidence was the thermal decomposition of the tire rubber, which is relevant to determining whether the tire failure was the cause of the accident. The skid marks at the scene showed that one of the tires had an abnormal condition. This mark also pointed to “severe speeding”: a 50-meter braking skid mark, as well as the collision path after the vehicle lost control, all support this conclusion.
