[Saba Sports News] Although not highly regarded during his time at Renault’s junior program, Oscar Piastri is now leading the 2025 F1 driver standings, showing amazing growth and stability. Recently, four-time F1 world champion Alain Prost recalled how he once pushed Renault’s executives to include Piastri in their junior program, despite the fact that the team was initially unwilling to sign the Australian young talent. Prost said in an interview that he saw Piastri’s potential early on, especially appreciating his calmness and intelligent decision-making on the track. He even said that Piastri reminded him of himself when he was young. Piastri himself has admitted that among all the legendary drivers, he identifies more with Prost’s driving philosophy — precise, disciplined, and not reckless. He emphasized that in today’s F1, with high-pressure situations and tire characteristics, a driver like Prost is needed, and that’s precisely why he has quickly established himself at the top level. Since joining McLaren, Piastri has quickly earned the support of the team and fans. His consistency is particularly outstanding — he has already secured points in 38 consecutive races, a record that ranks just behind Lewis Hamilton (48) and Max Verstappen (43). In the 12 races of the 2025 season, Piastri has already won five races and is fulfilling the deep expectations of a legend.
