[Saba Sports News] South Africa fast-bowler Gerald Coetzee has been ruled out of the second Test of the two-match series against India.
The Cricket South Africa (CSA) on Saturday confirmed that Coetzee has been released from the South Africa squad for the upcoming Test due to a pelvic inflammation.
He experienced discomfort on Day 3 of the recently-concluded game versus India, bowling only five overs in the second innings. He did not have a good outing unlike the other pacers, bagging a solitary wicket in the fixture.
No replacement of Coetzee has been announced as of now. Alongside the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Marco Jansen and Nandre Burger, the Proteas have two more pacers in ther squad in the form of Lungi Ngidi and Wiaan Mulder. If Ngidi is fit, he will be the best choice to fill in Coetzee’s place.
South Africa have already lost captain Temba Bavuma to a hamstring injury with Zubayr Hamza being named his replacement.
The hosts are 1-0 up in the series, winning the opening Test in Centurion by an innings and 32 runs. The final match of the series will commence on January 3 in Cape Town.
