[Saba Sports News] According to Italian media reports, in preparation for hosting UEFA Euro 2032, Napoli plans to use its own funds to construct a new stadium. A meeting was held involving UEFA, the Italian Football Federation (FIGC), the City of Naples, and SSC Napoli, though the discussions remained preliminary in nature with no concrete decisions made. UEFA outlined the stringent requirements for hosting Euro 2032 matches, emphasizing the necessity of close coordination between the club and municipal authorities to ensure smooth project execution. SSC Napoli stated that the current Diego Armando Maradona Stadium is unsuitable for the tournament. Contrary to some media reports, neither UEFA nor FIGC has endorsed the municipal government’s proposals. Technical experts appointed by the club conducted a two-year study, concluding that renovating the Maradona Stadium to meet tournament standards is unfeasible due to financial and structural limitations. While the city government proposed some intervention plans, these were deemed economically unsustainable and inadequate to modernize the venue to required standards. As a result, Napoli intends to self-finance the construction of a new stadium capable of meeting Euro 2032 hosting criteria.
