[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester United is considering introducing a controversial Personal Seat License (PSL) system. If they move to a new stadium, fans will need to pay up to £4,000 to purchase season tickets. The proposal has sparked outrage among fans, who have already launched a series of protests against the Glazer family and owner Jim Ratcliffe of INEOS. It has now been revealed that fans plan larger protests, which could be a blow to the positive mood of United officials regarding summer transfers. The fan group 1958 claims that the PSL system would “force long-term supporters out of the club” and is another step toward the further Americanization of their game. Although Manchester United would be the first Premier League club to use such a system, it is common in the NFL. They also pointed out that the idea was raised by CSK International, an American company, during consultations with fans on stadium issues, “highlighting how out of touch our club and owners are.” There were several protests around last season’s matches. In March, thousands took part in the largest protest against ownership after Ratcliffe acquired nearly 30% of the shares. They criticized rising ticket prices and the design of the new stadium, calling it “a circus.” There were several protests around last season’s matches.
