[Saba Sports News] According to recent reports from Spanish media, the newly established “JfP” Foundation in the Netherlands has filed a lawsuit against FIFA, alleging that its current transfer system violates EU competition law. JfP claims that FIFA’s rules prevent players from exercising their legal right to terminate contracts, while clubs can easily break contracts. Players are afraid of the heavy and uncertain consequences of ending their contracts, while clubs know the rules work in their favor. Over 100,000 active and retired players could have lost up to 8% of their potential career earnings due to these restrictive rules. If this lawsuit is successful, it could lead to significant changes in FIFA’s transfer regulations, helping protect players’ rights. This would give players more say in matters such as transfers, reduce unreasonable restrictions and penalties, and potentially allow players to receive fairer pay, changing the situation where players might lose income due to rule limitations. It could further push football toward a fairer and more reasonable direction.
