[Saba Sports News] Recently, former F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone clearly stated that he does not want to see Max Verstappen join Ferrari, believing it would ruin the Dutch driver’s career. The four-time F1 world champion is currently contracted to Red Bull Racing until the end of 2028, but recently he has been consistently linked with rumors of leaving Red Bull. Although most speculation centers on a potential move to Mercedes or Aston Martin, if Lewis Hamilton does not choose to fulfill the third year of his contract with Ferrari, Verstappen could also be in Ferrari’s sights for 2027. If the Ferrari team starts strongly in the next F1 regulatory cycle, a move to Maranello would be an attractive option for Verstappen. However, the 94-year-old Ecclestone bluntly advised Verstappen not to consider joining the Scuderia. The former chief told Sport.de: “If he goes to Ferrari, it will be the end of his career, hopefully that won’t happen.” Ecclestone believes Verstappen has the ability to turn a good situation into victory, adding: “He always turns a good team into a championship team.” Since joining Ferrari, Hamilton has struggled, and Ecclestone insists it is time for the seven-time F1 world champion to quit F1, and he fears Verstappen would suffer a similar fate at Ferrari.
