[Saba Sports News] In the recently concluded 2025 Badminton World Championships, Chinese badminton player Chen Yufei persevered through an ankle injury to complete the tournament. She defeated world number one An Se-young in the semifinals but lost to Yamaguchi Akane in the final, ultimately winning the silver medal. After the event, she took to social media to reflect on her World Championships journey. Chen Yufei stated: “In August last year, in Paris, all my passion for badminton vanished. This August, my only thought was to return here and stand on the court again. Unfortunately, I sprained my ankle when I was closest to the gold medal, preventing me from performing at my normal level in the final. But luckily, it was just a sprain. I still have the opportunity to stay on the court and continue chasing my dreams. I know many people are concerned about me. Thank you for your support, and thank you for never giving up on me. I will continue to work hard and return to the court as soon as possible, striving to become a better Chen Yufei.” Recently, Chen Yufei’s studio also updated fans on her injury condition. The studio wrote on Weibo: “After arriving in Chengdu today, Chen Yufei immediately went to the hospital for a CT scan. The imaging revealed: posterior ankle impingement related to the os trigonum/talar nose in the right ankle, accompanied by a small amount of bone marrow edema. The anterior talofibular ligament is partially torn. The calcaneofibular and deltoid ligaments are grade 1 injuries. Experts recommend three weeks of rest, combined with rehabilitation and physical therapy.”
