[Saba Sports News] According to Haas team principal Guenter Steiner,
in a recent interview, the most important person in Formula 1 is Red Bull
Racing’s chief technical officer, Adrian Newey. Steiner believes that Newey’s
expertise in building winning cars surpasses the significance of drivers like
Max Verstappen or Lewis Hamilton, as well as team bosses such as Christian
Horner of Red Bull and Toto Wolff of Mercedes. Steiner suggests that if
Verstappen were to drive a Haas car, he wouldn’t be able to win the
championship, but if Newey were to join the Haas team, he could build a
championship-winning car. Newey has a long history of designing
championship-winning cars, starting with the Williams FW15C in 1992, followed
by McLaren’s MP4-13 in 1998 and 1999, and then Red Bull Racing’s RB6 in 2010.
His current design, the RB16B, continues to lead the way in Formula 1. Steiner
regards Newey as a racing genius and considers him to be the most important
person in the world of Formula 1.
