[Saba Sports News] During his first F1 season with Williams, Carlos Sainz’s luck has been poor, plagued by reliability issues, strategy mistakes, and multiple collisions with other drivers, leaving the Spanish driver thoroughly frustrated. After colliding with Oliver Bearman at the Italian Grand Prix and again missing out on points, he wryly joked about the race stewards. At the previous race in the Netherlands, Sainz was penalized with a time penalty and penalty points after being deemed responsible for a collision with Liam Lawson, a decision Sainz was highly dissatisfied with, leading Williams to appeal. During the Italian GP on lap 41, Sainz and Bearman collided and spun when Sainz attempted to pass Bearman around the outside at the second corner. Bearman received a 10-second penalty and 2 penalty points on his license from the stewards for the incident. Speaking after the race, Sainz said: “We were on the hards catching up, yeah, just caught up with Oli and had a collision. A shame, because I’ve lost count of how many collisions I’ve had with other drivers this year. At least this time [the stewards] didn’t deem us to be the offending car.” He concluded: “But really, not much to say. We were on for good points and that happened. I had damage on the car and couldn’t recover.” The Spanish driver ultimately finished in 11th place, just outside the points.
