[Saba Sports News] According to FIA documents, the collision between Carlos Sainz and Liam Lawson during the F1 Dutch Grand Prix has been deemed a racing incident, and Williams’ petition for a right of review was accepted. As the race has concluded, the 10-second time penalty issued to Sainz during the race cannot be revoked, but the 2 super license points deducted from Sainz will be rescinded. Following the FIA’s reclassification of the Sainz-Lawson collision at the Dutch GP as a racing incident, Williams Racing issued an official statement expressing satisfaction with the outcome. Williams’ statement read: “We appreciate the stewards’ review of the penalty incident involving Sainz at the Dutch GP and are pleased with their conclusion that it was a racing incident with no fault assigned to Sainz. While it is regrettable that the original penalty affected our race result, errors are part of motor racing. We will continue to work constructively with the FIA to improve the stewarding process and optimize future sporting regulations.” During the Dutch GP, Sainz was initially judged responsible for the collision with Lawson, receiving a 10-second time penalty added to his race time and 2 penalty points on his super license. Williams subsequently appealed to the FIA and submitted relevant evidence, leading to a review and overturning of the penalty.
