[Saba Sports News] Recently, Williams F1 Team Principal James Vowles made full use of the one-week break between the Italian Grand Prix and the Azerbaijan Grand Prix to conduct a two-day GT3 test driving a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo in Spain. It is reported that the test took place at the Circuito de Navarra in Spain. Vowles rejoined the Garage 59 team, with whom he had competed in the Asian Le Mans Series in 2022. Regarding this, Vowles shared on X: “A fantastic two days at Circuito de Navarra in Spain. The track was dry for the most part, it’s a great technical circuit. I was driving a McLaren 720S GT3 Evo with Garage 59. Great to be back with a team I have a lot of history with. I was a bit rusty at first, having not driven a GT3 car for a couple of years, but at the end of the two days I was very happy with what we ultimately achieved. I had to put most of the engineering brain to one side and just focus on driving – and enjoyed every second. More to come.” The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo is currently used by teams including Garage 59, CSA Racing, Optimum Motorsport, and Team RJN in the GT World Challenge Europe. The car is equipped with a V8 twin-turbo engine producing 740 horsepower and has a top speed of 341 km/h.
