[Saba Sports News] According to GPBlog, Max Verstappen’s manager, Raymond Vermeeren, claimed that if the Dutch driver rejects a move to Mercedes, Charles Leclerc might become Toto Wolff’s “alternative option.” Before Verstappen’s win at the F1 Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Vermeeren praised the Red Bull driver’s “balanced” personality. In an interview, Vermeeren stated: “It’s definitely a good thing. When making decisions, it’s great, of course. It’s nice to work with someone who is very stable and not moody.” According to Vermeeren, the four-time world champion is very clear about his goals: “Max knows what he wants, and especially what he doesn’t want.” Verstappen is eager to win championships. Therefore, if Red Bull cannot meet his needs by 2026, Vermeeren admitted his client might choose to leave. Given reports that multiple teams within the paddock are interested in Verstappen, he could choose which team to drive for in 2027. If it’s not Mercedes, Vermeeren revealed who he thinks Wolff would contact if unable to sign the Dutchman. He said: “Everyone talks to everyone. Don’t you think Toto would call Leclerc? It’s a puzzle everyone is figuring out for themselves. And everyone is selfish and wants the best for themselves, which is quite logical.”
