[Saba Sports News] During the second practice session of the recent Singapore Grand Prix, the Ferrari team sparked controversy due to a mechanic error. The incident occurred when Ferrari released Charles Leclerc’s car directly into the path of Lando Norris, resulting in a collision between Leclerc’s Ferrari and the McLaren driver Norris. Norris’s car hit the wall, damaging its front wing. Following an investigation, the FIA heavily penalized the Ferrari team with a €10,000 fine. The responsibility for this incident lay with the team, and the FIA did not penalize Leclerc. This was a serious team coordination error, impacting the Ferrari team and its drivers, the race situation, and regulations. This incident might prompt Ferrari to re-examine and optimize its pit lane operational procedures and safe release mechanisms to prevent similar mistakes from recurring. In our opinion, this demonstrates the strictness of the sporting regulations in maintaining race order and safety; any actions violating the rules and endangering race safety will be dealt with seriously.
