[Saba Sports News] The Los Angeles Lakers are facing a challenging situation reminiscent of their experience with Kendrick Nunn, as guard Gabe Vincent is now seriously considering surgery on his left knee. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, if Vincent opts for the surgery, he could be sidelined for a period of six to eight weeks.
Vincent, 27, had only recently made his return to the Lakers’ lineup in the game against the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, after being out for more than a month and a half due to issues with the same knee. In his comeback game, which the Lakers lost 124-108, Vincent played for 14 minutes and scored three points. However, Charania reports that Vincent is again experiencing swelling in his knee.
Since joining the Lakers as a free agent from the Miami Heat this summer, Vincent has struggled to make a significant impact. Assigned a crucial role off the bench at the season’s start, he has participated in only five of the team’s 29 games, totaling just 27 points. Vincent’s three-year contract with the Lakers, worth $33 million, now casts a shadow over his contributions to the team, drawing parallels to the Lakers’ previous experience with another former Miami Heat guard, Kendrick Nunn.
