[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, Manchester City head coach Josep Guardiola is currently progressing with the final divorce proceedings after experiencing a marital crisis with his wife, Cristina Serra, two months ago, making the relationship irreparable. Earlier this year, during Manchester City’s away match against Brentford, Guardiola was still wearing his wedding ring, signaling to the world and his wife that he had not given up on their marriage. However, just days before that match, Spanish media confirmed the couple’s separation. The couple’s marriage crisis began in November 2024, coinciding with Guardiola’s decision to sign a new £40 million contract with Manchester City, committing to coach at the Etihad Stadium until 2027. This decision reportedly became the last straw for their marriage. However, signs of trouble in their relationship had emerged two months prior, during what was arguably the worst period of Guardiola’s coaching career. Starting from November 2, 2024, Manchester City went through a streak of seven winless matches, including five consecutive losses. Additionally, in October 2024, a Spanish property document revealed that Guardiola became the sole owner of an £8.5 million property, which was the couple’s marital home that they purchased in 2021. This decision was made because Serra was unable to settle in Manchester, and after the company that facilitated their home purchase was dissolved, Guardiola bought out his wife’s 50% stake in the property.
