[Saba Sports News] Recently, Real Madrid officially confirmed that they have won the dispute with La Liga, expressing satisfaction with the ruling from the Spanish Supreme Court. The judgment fully supports Real Madrid’s arguments against La Liga regarding the illegal amendment to the statutes made in 2015, which altered the distribution of audiovisual rights income for clubs. The Spanish Supreme Court declared the second additional clause in La Liga’s statutes invalid, as it was added without legal authorization in 2015 and aimed to change the distribution of audiovisual income for the 2015-2016 season, violating legal regulations. Consequently, the legal distribution applicable means that an additional payment of approximately €88 million needs to be made to clubs in the Segunda División for the 2015-2016 season, including Alavés, Albacete, Alcoyano, Almería, Bilbao B, Córdoba, Elche, Gimnàstic Tarragona, Girona, Huesca, Leganés, Llagostera, Lugo, Mallorca, Mirandés, Numancia, Osasuna, Ponferradina, Real Oviedo, Tenerife, Valladolid, and Zaragoza. At the same time, this also means that Real Madrid will receive approximately €8.8 million, which they are legally entitled to and was previously unlawfully withheld.
