[Saba Sports News] Red Bull’s parent company has officially announced that 82-year-old Helmut Marko will retire at the end of the 2025 season, marking the conclusion of his over twenty-year career with Red Bull. Since the team’s inception in 2005, this advisor has been instrumental in the development of the Red Bull empire, but now chooses to leave amid the backdrop of championship failures and internal power shifts.Red Bull’s statement indicated that Marko voluntarily proposed his departure. Reflecting on his 60 years in racing and more than 20 years with Red Bull, Marko expressed deep sentiment, noting that it has been an extraordinary and successful journey. In fact, leading up to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, there had been external doubts about Marko’s future. Despite having a contract for another year, he opted to step down amid escalating internal conflicts.With Christian Horner dismissed in the summer, the power structure at Red Bull is now under the control of CEO Oliver Münzla and new team principal Laurent Mekies, leading to increased friction with Marko, the last core figure from the original Red Bull setup. Nevertheless, in the official statement, Red Bull bid farewell to this controversial figure with the highest honors, highlighting that his judgment and courage shaped Red Bull’s present, and his departure will be a significant loss.
