[Saba Sports News] According to British media reports, a Liverpool fan has been charged with racially abusing Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo during an August Premier League match. Mark Morgan, a 47-year-old from the Dovecot area of Liverpool, has been granted conditional bail and is set to appear in court on Monday, December 22. Merseyside Police confirmed on Tuesday that Morgan is charged with a racially aggravated public order offense against Semenyo. The first match of the new season took place on August 15 at Anfield, where the game was paused in the first half after Semenyo reported that a fan in the main stand had racially abused him. Referee Anthony Taylor paused the match, talked with the fourth official, and informed the coaches, Slot and Iraola, as well as captains Virgil van Dijk and Adam Smith, about the situation. The game resumed, and during halftime, a message against discrimination was read to the audience. That evening, the 25-year-old player posted on Instagram: “When will it stop?” He received further online abuse but expressed gratitude for the support from the football community the next day.
