[Saba Sports News] According to Argentine media reports, the Argentine Football Association has been criminally charged for alleged misappropriation of tax funds and social security resources, with the amount involved reaching 75.9 billion pesos (approximately 4.48 million euros). A report submitted by Vanina Vidal, head of the Criminal Division of the ARCA taxpayer oversight agency, indicated that they discovered some violations by the Argentine Football Association (AFA) in August and September of last year. The large taxpayer collection department reported that during a tax compliance check on the AFA, it was found that the organization failed to pay value-added tax, income tax, and social security withholdings within the legal deadlines. As of December 10, 2025, these tax payments remain unpaid, although the social security withholdings have been fully paid by the specified date. According to ARCA, these amounts are not taxes owed by Argentina itself but funds withheld from third parties that should have been transferred to the tax authorities. Therefore, this case has been classified as a criminal violation. As a withholding agent, the Argentine Football Association is legally obligated to collect taxes and deposit them into the national treasury. The AFA has been accused of not timely submitting the withheld tax payments to the national treasury, and according to legal regulations, failure to pay after 30 days constitutes a crime.
