[Saba Sports News] In the women’s doubles final of the 2025 BWF World Tour Finals held at the Hangzhou Olympic Sports Center in China, the Korean duo Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee defeated Japan’s strong pair, Fukushima Yuki and Mayu Matsumoto, with a score of 2-0, successfully defending their women’s doubles title. This victory made Baek Ha Na and Lee So Hee the first Korean pair to defend their title at the BWF Finals in 26 years, following the mixed doubles duo Kim Dong Moon and Ra Kyung-min from 1998-1999, creating a historical record for Korean badminton.
The most exciting moment of the match occurred at 8-9 in the first game, where both sides engaged in a remarkable rally for a point, exchanging 156 shots in a row. This epic rally lasted several minutes, and at the 131st shot, even commentator Huang Yaqiong couldn’t help but exclaim, “This is incredible!”
Although this 156-shot rally at the BWF Finals can be recorded in history, it is not the longest rally in badminton history. In the 2015 Denmark Open women’s doubles match, a pair from Hong Kong and a Japanese player had a staggering 256-shot rally lasting 4 minutes and 30 seconds. Additionally, a crazy 211-shot rally occurred during the 2018 Malaysia Masters, lasting for 3 minutes.
