[Saba Sports News] Daniel Ricciardo has not completely stepped away from the racing world after his departure from F1. The former Red Bull and McLaren driver recently revealed that his desire to return to the track is reigniting, even specifically mentioning the famous American off-road race, Baja 1000, hinting at the possibility of a comeback in the future. Although he officially announced his retirement last September, the 36-year-old Ricciardo clearly has not fully said goodbye to speed and competition.
During his F1 career, Ricciardo raced in 257 events, securing 8 race wins, with 7 victories coming from the Red Bull team. His last win was during the 2021 Italian Grand Prix while driving for McLaren. He completed his farewell F1 race at the 2024 Singapore Grand Prix and subsequently became Ford’s global motorsport ambassador. It’s noteworthy that Ford is a partner of the Red Bull team for the F1 engine project in 2026.
Recently, Ricciardo participated in an event at Lake Havasu, Arizona, where he drove a Ford racing vehicle in high-speed desert traversals and jumps. After the event, he shared that the experience reignited feelings of thrill and excitement, even describing one skydiving moment as a sensation that rivaled the intensity of the Monaco circuit. Clearly, Ricciardo is hinting that the off-road racing scene could be the next chapter in his racing career.
