[Saba Sports News] Recently, the show’s executive producer Andy Wilman recalled the most unforgettable F1 driver appearance on the program and unhesitatingly mentioned Sebastian Vettel. In 2011, during the height of the Red Bull dynasty, the team’s star driver Vettel participated in Wilman’s racing show. He became the unexpected and hilarious highlight of the studio with a parody of champion driver Nigel Mansell.
Wilman revealed that the mastermind behind this classic moment was F1 legend designer Adrian Newey. In the team, Newey often shared stories and anecdotes about Mansell with Vettel and even passed on his distinctly recognizable Birmingham accent. Newey’s descriptions fueled Vettel’s desire to perform, which he fully unleashed on the show.
Wilman admitted that the production team initially had low expectations and even held some stereotypes, thinking a German driver might not effectively deliver in terms of language and humor. However, when Vettel started to impersonate Mansell, his tone, expressions, and movements were almost perfectly replicated, causing the crowd to erupt, and even the production team couldn’t help but burst into laughter.
