[Saba Sports News] Sergio Perez recently revealed the rather awkward farewell conversation he had with Christian Horner after losing his seat at Red Bull, which took place at the end of the 2024 season. Perez drove for Red Bull from 2021 to 2024, partnering with Max Verstappen for four seasons and winning the majority of his career’s race titles. However, after a winless 2024 season, Perez was ultimately dropped from the team. Red Bull subsequently replaced him with Liam Lawson and Yuki Tsunoda, but both struggled to perform in the 2025 season.
In a podcast, Perez recounted his last private exchange with Horner, candidly questioning what would happen if Lawson couldn’t deliver. Horner’s response was that there was still Tsunoda. Perez then pressed on, asking what if Tsunoda also failed to perform. Horner replied that Red Bull had many young drivers available. To this, Perez half-jokingly responded, “Then you might have to use all of them.” Horner simply acknowledged that he was aware of the situation. Perez described this conversation as an unspoken and awkward farewell.
