[Saba Sports News] According to the latest news from Spanish media, Real Madrid’s interim manager Álvaro Arbeloa will not take charge of the team on a long-term basis, and the club’s management is now keen to bring back former head coach José Mourinho.
From a realistic perspective, however, Mourinho is currently in charge of Benfica. Despite some turbulence surrounding the club, his return to Portuguese football after more than two decades is more of a challenge and a rebuilding project for him, meaning he may not be in a hurry to go back to a top-tier powerhouse.
Mourinho first took over Real Madrid in the summer of 2010, kicking off a three-year coaching spell. During his tenure, he led the team to claim the La Liga title, the Copa del Rey trophy and the Spanish Super Cup crown.
In this writer’s opinion, although neither party has responded directly to the rumors, and Mourinho himself previously stated that the possibility of returning to Real Madrid was closed, various signs have only fuelled growing speculation about his comeback. Florentino Pérez has long been an admirer of Mourinho, believing that his tough coaching style and proven ability to deliver titles are exactly what Real Madrid urgently needs in its pursuit of a fighting spirit right now. Meanwhile, other top candidates either have no intention of working in La Liga or are focused on managing national teams, which has further elevated Mourinho’s priority status for the role.
