[Saba Sports News] Ferrari has officially confirmed that seven-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton will have a new race engineer for the 2026 season. Riccardo Adami, who worked with him for one season, will no longer hold this role and will take on a new position within the team, with his successor yet to be announced. Adami has worked for Ferrari for many years, previously serving as the race engineer for Sebastian Vettel and Carlos Sainz. In the 2025 season, as Hamilton joined Ferrari, he was assigned to work with the British driver. However, this year has not been easy for Hamilton; he faced many challenges in adapting to the new car and team, and radio communications during races were often interpreted as a lack of synergy with Adami. After the season ended, Italian media reported that Hamilton and Adami had a positive discussion over a private dinner, which alleviated some of their differences in working styles. There was general expectation that the two would continue their collaboration for another season. However, Ferrari team principal Frédéric Vasseur then publicly stated that the team would evaluate all possibilities during the winter break to improve overall performance and the communication efficiency between drivers and the pit wall, hinting at personnel adjustments. Ultimately, Ferrari chose to make a change. Adami will transition to head of the driver academy and old car testing program, primarily responsible for nurturing young drivers and passing on his extensive F1 track experience to future talents. In my view, this adjustment represents Ferrari’s new attempt to comprehensively optimize their communication system and working model before key regulatory changes.
