[Saba Sports News] On the eve of the new livery launch event in Detroit between Red Bull and Ford, Max Verstappen test-drove a Ford supercar and publicly discussed the possibility of participating in the Bathurst 1000 endurance race in Australia for the first time. His statement quickly garnered attention, with seven-time champion Jamie Whincup declaring that Verstappen’s participation in this great event in 2027 is not mere talk.
Although Verstappen’s F1 contract with Red Bull extends until 2028, the four-time world champion has made it clear that his racing career will not be limited to F1. In the 2026 season, he is expected to participate in the Nürburgring 24-hour endurance race. Previously, he obtained a license for the Nordschleife and completed his GT3 debut in the NLS series, winning on his first outing and demonstrating impressive cross-discipline adaptability.
His ambitions in endurance racing clearly extend beyond Europe. In fact, this is not the first time Verstappen has engaged with supercars. In 2019, he experienced a ride alongside Whincup, and in 2022, he personally test-drove a supercar. Verstappen has stated in interviews that supercars are completely different from F1 and GT3, but the core skill for drivers lies in adaptability. Regardless of the car, whether it’s about grip or track characteristics, drivers must quickly adjust their style.
